Team will consist of Toronto based employees who will be running
in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
October 3rd, 2008, Toronto, ON – rL Solutions, the leading provider of healthcare
quality and safety software, announced today that it will be entering a team in
the 2008 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run for the Cure. Held annually, the
Run raises money to fund breast cancer research and community education programs
that have the greatest potential to make a difference in the lives of people
affected by the disease.
According to the Canadian
Cancer Society, breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Canadian
women, with 22,400 estimated to be diagnosed with the disease and a further 5,300
estimated to die from it in 2008 alone. But with the help of programs such as
the Run for the Cure, breast cancer death rates have declined across all age
groups in Canada
since the mid 1990s.
“We all know someone who
has been affected, either directly or indirectly, by breast cancer”, said
Clayton Parry, Client Management Director at rL Solutions and this year’s Run
Leader. “With one in 9 women expected to develop breast cancer during her
lifetime, and one in 28 dying of it, eradicating this disease is of the utmost
importance, and we as an organization are proud to play a small part in the
battle against breast cancer.”
2008
is the 17th annual Run, and on Sunday, October 5th, 2008, Canadians in 55
communities from Victoria, British
Columbia to St. John’s,
Newfoundland will participate by
walking or running either one or five kilometres. Last year, 170,000 participants walked or ran to
raise more than $27 million nationally for breast cancer research, education
